EMPLOYMENT

What belongs in a UAE final settlement?

A final settlement is a reconciliation of amounts owed, rather than a single salary multiple.

Identify each component

For an eligible federal private-sector employee, the estimate may include earned unpaid wages, traditional gratuity, eligible unused leave and any notice compensation actually due. Reimbursements or other contract payments should be itemised separately.

Keep wage bases distinct

Traditional gratuity uses basic wage. At termination, unused annual leave compensation is based on basic wage under Article 29. Notice compensation under Article 43 refers to the last wage. Using total salary for every line can overstate or understate the estimate.

Reconcile deductions and agreements

Enter only verified lawful deductions. A notice payment is not automatically an addition to every settlement: who ended employment, service of notice and valid agreements affect the position. The calculator asks you to enter agreed notice compensation rather than deciding a dispute.

Ask for an itemised statement

For example, 5,000 of unpaid earnings plus 2,000 of eligible leave and 10,000 of gratuity produces 17,000 before other items or deductions. Compare each line with records. This guide excludes DIFC, ADGM, government employment and alternative benefit schemes; seek relevant advice if your coverage is unclear.
