Monthly Budget: worked example
This is an illustrative scenario using the default inputs, not your personal result. Amounts use AED for illustration; the general formula also accepts your own figures in the selected currency.
| Input | Example value |
|---|---|
| Monthly take-home income | AED 12,000.00 |
| Housing & utilities | AED 3,500.00 |
| Food, transport & everyday costs | AED 2,500.00 |
| Debt payments | AED 1,000.00 |
| Savings contributions | AED 1,500.00 |
Money left each month: AED 3,500.00
- Total planned outgoings: AED 8,500.00
- Savings share of income: 12.5%
Before you use this estimate
Use income after deductions and divide known annual bills by 12. Keep planned savings separate from the cash left to spend.
Should I use gross or take-home income?
Use take-home income: the money available after payroll deductions. Otherwise your plan could allocate money you never receive.
How the calculation works
Assumptions & limitations
Use net income, not gross salary. Include irregular expenses as monthly amounts. A negative result is a shortfall, not available spending.
Use the result thoughtfully
Try a second scenario to see how a change in costs, timing or contributions affects the result. Keep all amounts in one currency and use consistent periods. Confirm important figures against your own records before acting.
